THE BOXMAN (WOMAN): THE KEY TO COMPS AND ENTERTAINMENT VALUE
If you want to maximize your comps and get the most entertainment value while playingat the tables, shop and get to know the boxman or woman. They are the ones thatwill provide your table rating and comps. The casinos are full of beaten down boxfolks who can easily cast a very dark cloud on the table, often causing even thedealers to be deadbeat. You want to find a friendly, energetic and outgoing boxperson who will get to know you on a first name basis. You will also be very surprisedat how well the box management will treat you too, if you have a consistent patternof toking (tipping) the dealers. Keep in mind that the casinos schedule on a threeshift basis, and varied workday shifts, so you may have to focus on your particularpersonal gaming time and trip schedule to maximize such a relationship.
CRAPS QUIZ
Here is the answer to the March 2005 quiz:
You have a $5 Pass Line Bet with $10 Odds, and Place $26 across all other Place BetNumbers. Your AVERAGE BET for COMPS is:
ANSWER: $6. Casino Comps are usually based on the initial buy-in, the AVERAGE betand the amount of PLAYING TIME at the table. In this example, with $26 across allthe Point Numbers and your Line Bet on a 6 or 8, you would have a $6 Place Bet oneither the 6 or 8. Your comps would therefore be calculated on the highest INDIVIDUALBET. $6 This rule will vary from casino to casino and will depend upon your consistencyas a customer AND will also depend upon your relationship with the BOXMAN (Woman)and the dealer crew. Chances are, also, if you consistently toke (tip) the dealers, the casino will give you a much LARGER average calculation on multiple bets foryour COMPS. Your visibility and table etiquette and the selection of your casinoof choice can have a great impact on how your comps are determined. Over 70% ofthose responding got this answer WRONG.
